Pre-production phase planning part 2

Image
In this part of planning our final film we included things like our logline (one sentence summary about the film),we defined our characters, went into depth upon our setting, and went over our cat beat. This helped to give our a kind of visual on what we intended on having our film look like. At this part of planning we also decided that we wanting to make some minor changes to make our film look more like a film.

Pre production phase (planning part 1)

In this part of the planning phase we pointed out our companies logo and the meaning behind it and description of it. Then I pointed out the genre information about our film “The Wrong Twin”. Pointed out the intended audience mentioning  the demographic and psychographics and stating the film crew and cast that was a part of the film.

Storyboard

Today In class we took notes on storyboards. A storyboard is a graphic organizer in the form of an illustration or image that  displays the sequence of a story in a visual. We went over all the things that a storyboard can help with in the film making process. After doing this we were assigned an assignment to create our own storyboard but for our film. My group mates and I all came together and set our storyboard up into two different sides and explained what we wanted in each scene. For each box we listed camera angle the frame and the shot size that we wanted to use. in the example below it shows a storyboard of different compositions this played as an outline for the pictures that we wanted to take for our assignment on composition in film.

Editing in film

Editing in film is a type of art, taking finished film and cutting and reassembling it.Editing is an Important Part of the Filmmaking Process because editing brings the whole film together by  blending images and sounds to make us feel emotionally connected and sometimes truly there in the film we're watching . In the film we approach our storytelling by placing our credits during the start of the film and set the tone by the background music and used a black and white filter to help with the emotions that we wanted to convey which can be seen in the clip below. In the film some of the challenges that we went through we’re trying to get some of the clips on the same day but my group mate and I always work through all the challenges that approached us during the editing and filming process.

opening movie film script

Image
My group mates and I created our script today in class in this document we included our beats, our opening technique, we stated the the location of our film it being inside or outside; the part of the school that we filmed at in this part we also included the time of day that the scene was filmed, another thing that we included in our film was our characters and main character and how they are introduced into our film and the visual's that the audience will see when watching our film, at the end of our film we included the dialogue that we have within our film and our cast. We added footnoted to show the action in each scene change when needed. Above is an inserted picture of the first part of our script.

Storyboard part 3 final part

Image
In this part of our storyboard we included the ending of our story. In the images below you can see that the description of the shot the camera techniques and in the description of the sound is listed. These help to create a visual of what we want our final product to be.

Storyboard part 2

Image
In this part of our storyboard we talked about the scene that related to the setup,This was also based on our films first draft. In this storyboard we also talked about description of the shot the different camera-works that we wanted to incorporate in around the sound that would be in the shots.

Story board part 1

Image
Today in media studies we created our storyboard. Our storyboard was based on our first draft. In the story boards (the images below) we listed the opening images describing them talking about the shot size frame angle in movement that we planned on including the composition and the lighting that we wanted in these shots and then talked about the description of the sound that would be in the shots.

Planning the film

Image
Last class my group mates and I talked about how and what we wanted in our film. Today we are going to hear our peers pitch on their movies and give them feed back and they well do the same. They things that they critiqued was mainly how we planned on explaining our film. We told them exactly what we were trying to convey which was that the wrong twin was killed in the and once they heard that part they told us that it made more sense and to just make sure that it’s is clearly stated in the film.

Second recording day

Today we went over the indoor ties that we wanted to create. Since it was the a couple day after I told the main chapter to bring the same outfit that she wore on filming day 1 to make everything connect. We went in different classes to create the scene that it was a school thing and that we were going through the life of the main character and her thought process. After doing theses takes we sat down and started talking about the narration that we wanted in the film. In the clip above it shows the take that we took today.

Camera movement video storyboard

Today we worked on our  movement video storyboard in class. One of my group mates c hose to work on editing. Another chose to direct the film and work on sound. And I chose to help with sound create the narration in the film and to be co-director in the film.      The shot size used in this video was medium  Close up. Also in this video we used a single shot.  The video was filmed at an eye   level angle. In this clip of our film we used zoom as our camera movement.  Zoom is when   the camera lens is used to move closer to or farther from the subject, zooming in or zooming out. In this part of the film the character is being choked to death. My team and I thought that Zooming in in this clip was the best camera movement to make a point out the emotions that are being brought up when you look into our characters eyes and to set the tone as serious but scary.

First recording session

Today was the first day of recording for our first draft and we made a lot of progress. Today we wanted to created all of our outside shots and we were able to do so. Before we began we sat down and talked every thing through like what exactly we wanted to happen today and what we wanted to gain from this recording session. After doing this we talked to out cast and told them what we wanted to get through and what to do in the shot that we took today. Since we wanted to start off with the killing scene we had the actors start off with running to create a mysterious kind of tone. In the inserted clip below this is shown off.

Editing and sound (the giver analysis)

Image
In the documented images below it show the analysis of the opening to the giver that my group mate and I worked on in class today. The purpose of doing this assignment was to create a visual understanding of the different film conventions and how well we can point them out. This will help towards our film because it will give us some kind of guide to go off of to make our film look like a film.
